How we started
SacraCar Share began as a grassroots movement in the heart of Sacramento when a few local residents noticed many of their neighbors were unknowingly missing out on essential benefits. While walking through neighborhoods like South Sacramento and Oak Park, it became clear that numerous families were eligible for programs such as CalFresh and Medi-Cal but hadn't enrolled. This gap in awareness sparked the idea: what if we could create a sustainable way to fund a service that helps people navigate these benefits?
With a shared passion for community support, the founders of SacraCar Share devised a vehicle-donation program that directly contributes to funding our free benefits-research service. By turning unwanted cars into much-needed resources, we connect those in need with local, state, and federal aid. Together, let's make sure no Sacramento resident has to face financial hardship alone.
